1445 Leaves for Rome where he works for the pope for perhaps four years. One of his assistants is Benozzo Gozzoli.
1446 According to Vasari he turns down an appointment as Archbishop of Florence.
1447 Travels with his workshop to work at Orvieto cathedral but soon returns to Rome.
1450–52 Back in Florence to fulfil two years as prior of his monastery.
1452 Journeys to Prato to discuss the decoration of the cathedral.
1455 Dies in Rome.
1984 Fra Angelico beatified by Pope John Paul II.
